It’s the Muppet Show, with our special guest star, Mr. John Lennon!

John Lennon as a Muppet

Generated using Midjourney and exposed on Polaroid film using Impossible Lab

This piece began as a funny idea: imagining John Lennon as a guest on The Muppet Show. I’ve always loved blending serious figures with absurd contexts, and growing up in a Beatles-loving household, this felt both playful and personal. Later, I discovered that the final episode of The Muppet Show aired just three months after Lennon’s death, adding an unexpectedly poignant layer for me.

I chose Polaroid film to ground the piece in its era, imagining it as a behind-the-scenes photo where no one questions who’s a Muppet and who’s human. Initially, I planned to fake the Polaroid look digitally, but when a friend offered their Impossible Lab to print onto real Polaroids, the project evolved into something entirely new.

The process resulted in 38 unique prints, each with its own quirks. The so-called “mistakes” quickly became my favorites, teaching me to embrace the beauty of imperfections. For me, this project is a perfect example of what excites me about AI art—using it as a starting point to create something tactile and unique. It’s a blend of humor, nostalgia, and experimentation that I hope challenges perceptions of AI art in the creative world
